2015 Thus Far...

The last couple months have been crazy and incredibly rewarding.

Between new product video demos, sessions, lessons, and gigs, I've barely had time to breathe! I'd like to take a moment to share my thoughts on some of my favorite guitar products.

I am proud to announce my new relationship with D'Addario Strings! These strings are amazing to say the least! They are by far the best strings I have used and they keep their fabulous tone after several gigs long after they've been changed. D'Addario has an impressive product line that is sure to please the most discriminating players. I've been using the electric light gauge, nickel wound EXL110-10P's.

I've also formed a personal connection with Clayton picks. Truth be told, I've been using Clayton's for the last 20 years! Actually, I've been using the same pick model since the mid 90's; the 1.26 standard Acetal/Polymer series.

I am also happy to announce my new friendship with Eminence Speaker! I have used Eminence for several years however I fell in love with them all over again at this year's NAMM show in Anaheim. After spending several hours playing through most of their speakers in their demo sound booth, I found it difficult to choose just one. I recently acquired the EJ-1240. This Alnico masterpiece is voiced with the perfect balance of pleasing highs along with a tight low end! And who doesn't like a tight low end? ;-) A special thank you to Cobi and Anthony for welcoming me in the Eminence family.

I've also recently completed two new product video demos for Dr. Z Amps. The Carmen Ghia video is one that is close to my heart being that I have used a Ghia for the last 10 years. To me, the Ghia is the "secret weapon" in my amplifier arsenal. Weighing in at a stout 18 watts and donning only two knobs (volume and tone), it is the most enjoyable and inspiring amp I own.

As a side note, I included two of my new chosen pedals within the Ghia video; the Wampler Plexi Drive Deluxe and the Wampler Velvet Fuzz. Both pedals are a "must have" for my pedalboard being that between them both, I can cover any/all overdrive, mild distortion, and fuzz tones that I will ever need!

The Z-LUX is the newest amp in the Dr. Z product line. This warm, vintage combo is an enhanced example of our favorite blackface amp from the 60's. Having the option of full power (40 watts), or half power (20 watts), reverb, trem, and a boost function, makes this the most versatile amp in the Dr. Z amp series. The video features several of the amps attributes along focusing on assorted tones from several different guitars in conjunction with assorted amp settings. I can't say enough great things about the Z-LUX; it's my new favorite amp!

Thank you all for your endearing comments and continued support. I am so happy to connect with some of you through emails and social media. Please stay tuned for great things to come...

Wow! What a great experience being at NAMM last week! I was able to see some old friends: PRS, Xotic, Dunlop, Wampler, and McPherson - and I was lucky to make some new friends: D'Addario, Eminence, Analysis Plus, Steve Clayton, T-Rex, A Little Thunder, IMS Technologies, and James Trussart, to name a few.

A big thank you to Bev Fowler at PRS and Andy Alt at A Little Thunder. And, as always, it was a pleasure to play and hang at the McPherson Guitars booth with the one and only Larry Klenc and his beautiful wife, Lori.

Thank you to Seymour W. Duncan and Craig Costigan of Seymour Duncan, and Sage Benando of Benando Effects for their wonderful hospitality both at the booth and at the Seymour Duncan Party on Saturday night.

Another "big thanks" to Evan Skopp and Doreen Daley Skopp of Inside Track for the Marriott lobby "cocktail hang" and their many helpful introductions.

It was also great to meet and hang with Ryan Romenesco of Jensen Communications, as well as schmoozing with Toto's David Paich.

Betsy A, you are the best manager a person could only hope for. Thank you for your invaluable guidance and for helping me avoid "NAMM cooties."

Gearing up for NAMM 2015! I’m looking forward to seeing all my peeps and making new friends this week in Anaheim! Before I leave I’m finishing up another amp demo video - of the Z28 - for my friend and fellow Clevelander, Dr. Z!

Here’s a sneak peek of Dr. Z's latest ad scheduled to run in the March issue of Guitar Player magazine featuring yours truly!    #drzamps #guitarplayerlive #NAMM

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year to all!

As I close the books on 2014 I can't help but be so very grateful for another fantastic year. This last year has enhanced my passport with more stamps from various Kellie Pickler tours which included Switzerland and Australia.

2014 also marked the release of my debut album, 71 South. This labor of love has brought me to a definitive place in my musical journey and has given me a new identity as a guitar player.

Looking forward to the new year, I hope to step into the clinician seat as a teacher while working closely with some of the guitar, amp, pedal, and string companies that have supported my efforts throughout my career.
I also plan on playing more dates in 2015 to support my music as well as producing/playing on various projects here in Nashville. My new year will also include more product video demos for some of my favorite guitar/amp companies. And for those of you who are looking for a musical "fix" on a weeknight, please check out the Dave Baker Band every Monday night 6:00 - 10:00 PM at Whiskey Bent on lower Broadway, Nashville TN.

Thank you all who have been so supportive and who continue to give me the strength to carry out my artistic endeavors. Please stay connected with me and stay tuned for upcoming events!
